calling the government’s latest national consulta- tion aimed at Soros a “rhetorical element of the upcoming election campaign”.
Navracsics contradicted the core message of the campaign, saying the so-called “Soros-plan” is not on the agenda of the Commission, which is working out its own migration policy.
The EC, he said, had got accustomed to being exploited in domestic politics, with political rivals often blaming the commission for policies such as its much-criticised migration policy. Navracsics said that the commission kept its distance from
domestic politics and would not comment on the Hungarian election campaign.
"Navracsics should know better than anyone that his colleagues and their circle, people and organi- sations are not only in the hands of US financier George Soros, but also in his pocket" said Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjen.
Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that he is more aware of the European Commission’s plans than Navracsics. Asked by an reporter before the parlia- ment’s session about Navracsics’s denial, he said “I know it well. That is, Tibor Navracsics is wrong.”
