CNPC’s overseas projects maintain stable operation
Since the novel coronavirus outbreak, CNPC has established a three-tier interaction mechanism that involves International Department, Overseas Regional Coordination Group, and overseas subsidiaries to monitor the epidemic development in overseas projects and host countries, strengthen information sharing with Chinese embassies and consulates, coordinate with subsidiaries on epidemic prevention and control,
strictly implement CNPC’s arrangements and deployments, and put in place various epidemic prevention and control measures. Expatriates dispatch for overseas projects is suspended for the moment so as to prevent possible spread of the epidemic.
Employees at overseas projects are provided with masks, alcohol for sterilization, goggles, thermometers, protective suits and other materials for epidemic prevention and control. Quarantined areas are set up and surrounding medical resources availability is investigated
to get prepared in case of need. Overseas subsidiaries are required to establish an emergency duty mechanism which designates personnel on duty everyday for information sharing and report. A special column on fighting the epidemic is posted on the Overseas Risk Warning APP to inform overseas projects of the epidemic development, educate on epidemic prevention and control, as well as share good practices among the overseas projects. In addition, in order to strengthen communication with host countries and build our image as a responsible international enterprise, CNPC prepared briefings for overseas projects on its response to the outbreak. Versions in English, Russian and Spanish are available to facilitate communication with stakeholders.
Currently, all CNPC segments with international business have taken proper
actions on epidemic prevention and control, and operated in an orderly manner. Expatriates now working on overseas projects and those
on leave in China are in good health. Our overseas projects are maintaining safe and stable production and operation.

Esso Australia drilling West
Barracouta domestic gas
wells
Esso Australia said today that it had reached total depth on the first of its two West Barracouta gas wells in Bass Strait, which will bring new gas supplies to the Australian domestic market next year.
The development, located in the VIC/
L1 block offshore Victoria, is part of the company’s continued investment in the Gippsland Basin and will be tied back to the existing Barracouta infrastructure offshore in Bass Strait, the first offshore field ever discovered in Australia.
With total depth of 1.3 kilometres reached on the first well and the second well almost complete, the company will have West Barracouta gas flowing to the Australian domestic gas market by early 2021.
“After more than 50 years, the Gippsland Basin Joint Venture continues to be a crucial source of gas supply for the nation and is
the largest supplier of gas to the eastern Australia market,” said Nathan Fay, Chairman, ExxonMobil Australia.
“Since drilling the first Bass Strait well in 1965, our operations have delivered more than four billion barrels of oil and 10 trillion cubic feet of natural gas to Australia. This is more than half of all the oil ever produced in Australia,
and enough gas to power almost every home in Australia for a decade.
“Esso Australia continues to focus on delivering gas that Australians need to the domestic market.”
The new project builds on more than $5.5 billion invested by the Gippsland Basin Joint Venture in other recent Victorian projects supplying gas for Australians, including the Kipper Tuna Turrum offshore project and the Longford Gas Conditioning Plant,” said Fay.
