Digi Communications announced on October 31 it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation (OTE) and Vodafone Romania to proceed with the acquisition of OTE’s mobile subsidiary, Telekom Romania Mobile Communications (TKRM). This move follows local businessman Adrian Tomșa’s decision to withdraw from the initial transaction.
The acquisition represents the third restructuring of the TKRM divestment plan since OTE first announced last November that Tomșa would take over its Romanian mobile unit. Digi initially entered the transaction in May alongside Tomșa, who has now been replaced by Vodafone.
According to the MoU, Digi will acquire certain assets from TKRM, while Vodafone will indirectly assume OTE’s shares in the operator.
