Turkey remained by far the largest destination for the EU’s waste exports in 2021.
The Bulgarian police are brutally pushing back migrants at the border with Turkey. They are beating, robbing, stripping and using police dogs to attack Afghans and other asylum seekers, Human Rights Watch said on May 26.
Galip Ozturk, of Turkish intercity bus company Metro Turizm, was on May 31 arrested by Georgian authorities after a special forces police raid on a hotel that he owns in seaside resort Batumi. Ozturk fled to Georgia after an appeals court confirmed a life sentence he was given in relation to a 1996 murder.
Ukraine’s Ambassador to Ankara Vasyl Bodnar said on June 3 that Turkish buyers were among those receiving Ukrainian grain stolen by Russia.
