last year, the concept of a bioethanol plant was approved, and now a biodiesel plant is under development. According to the OKKO CEO, preparatory work has already begun to construct a bioethanol plant in the Ternopil region with a production volume of 83,000 tonnes per year within two years. The company also explained that entering the agricultural sphere is related to the need to partially supply its own raw materials for future bioethanol and biodiesel plants, and later, biomethane production.
Three wind power plants with a capacity of almost 230 MW have been built, and another 58 projects are at various stages of implementation. According to Andriy Konechenkov, chairman of the board of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, since the beginning of the full-scale war, three new wind farms have been built in Ukraine: Tyligulska (114 MW), Dnistrovsk (60 MW) and Skolivska (54.6 MW). "Currently, there are 58 projects with a total capacity of more than seven GW at various stages. However, these projects are in temporarily occupied territories. That is, 4-5 GW can be implemented while the war continues," he said. According to him, almost the entire territory of Ukraine is suitable for the development of wind generation. In particular, the Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Volyn, Rivne, and Lviv regions are promising, where the average wind speed at the height of 100 m can reach from 6.5 to 7.0 m/s (minimum for the most efficient electricity generation). The average speed is even higher, 8.0-8.2 m/s, in the Kherson and Odesa regions. Therefore, wind turbines can compensate for the lost generating capacity in the network.

The largest legal producer of amber started new extraction. Concorde Capital is developing a new amber deposit in the Rivne region, covering an area of 458 hectares. Ukraine needs 3-4 window glass factories to rebuild the country. To have enough window glass for Ukraine’s restoration, it will be necessary to build three or four plants with a production capacity of 25 million square meters per year, said the President of the All-Ukrainian Union of Building Materials Manufacturers, Kostyantyn Saliy. He noted that modern window glass is not currently produced in Ukraine. Before the war, 85% of this product was imported from Belarus and Russia. Therefore, one of the most urgent tasks is to ensure domestic window glass production for reconstruction. However, for now, plans from Turkish, Chinese, and Ukrainian businesses to build factories have only been declared. On the other hand, Saliy noted that production of domestic PVC profiles and other window components is sufficient for current consumption levels. In addition, during the war Ukraine has increased its export of window systems to Germany, France, and Britain. Since the beginning of the war, satellite imaging has recorded more than 210,000 damaged buildings in Ukraine, about half of them in the Donbas, which demonstrates a great need for window glass for years to come.
