     Ukraine signs first major deal with US company for LNG supplies. Under the deal, DTEK, Ukraine's largest private energy company, will start purchasing an unspecified amount of LNG from Venture Global later in 2024 and throughout 2026.
Ukraine will buy gas directly from the US for the first time. The Ukrainian company, DTEK, will conclude its first agreement for the supply of American gas to reduce Russia's energy influence. The largest private electricity producer in Ukraine, DTEK, will start buying LNG from American gas exporter Venture Global at the end of this year and will continue until the end of 2026.

    Despite the electricity shortage, the demand for electric cars in Ukraine rose by 68% in one year. In May 2024, 4,113 battery-powered cars were added to the Ukrainian fleet. Compared to May 2023, the demand for electric vehicles increased by 68%, but the share of new cars in BEV registrations was 16%, against 23% last year.
     ● Trains
The price of rail transportation of grain has risen 300% in two years: Ukrainian Railways (UZ) is preparing a new tariff increase. Moreover, UZ is preparing for another rise in prices for grain cargo transportation. In 2023, farmers overpaid ₴28B to UZ and the owners of private wagon fleets. In addition, UZ's plan to make a profit of ₴10B from cargo transportation in 2025 is also likely to be implemented by raising prices for grain trucks in the peak season.
Since the beginning of the year, the volume of railway container transportation has reached its highest point in seven years and now exceeds pre-war indicators. In the five full months of the year, the volume of rail transportation of goods in containers compared to the same period in 2023 increased by 60% and amounted to 116,129 20-foot container equivalents. The indicator is the highest in the last seven years and exceeds the transportation volume for the same period in 2021 by 10%.
