Moscow to pay residents over $21,000 signing bonus for joining army. While other regional authorities have also instituted signing bonuses, such as 1mn rubles in Krasnodar Krai ($11,200) and 500,000 rubles ($5,600) in Dagestan, the Moscow signing bonus appears to be the highest reported so far.
Russia enjoyed one of the highest rates of growth for real wages in 2023
as nominal wage increases easily outstrip the high inflation. Since summer 2023, the nominal increase in average wages has usually been above 15% year-on-year, and in the first months of 2024 wage increases have been around 20%. Therefore, Russia’s war economy is currently giving providing Russians with significantly higher real wages than before.
Wage for soldiers go up. Russians willing to go to war in Ukraine were paid 195,000 rubles ($2200). Now, the amount of payments has reached almost twomn rubles in some Russian regions ($22,600), e.g. Moscow and the Moscow region. Krasnodar and Tatarstan are among the regions with the highest payments in Russia. The least amount is paid in Russian Kalmykia, Smolensk region, and Kamchatka.
A year ago, Russian contract soldiers from the Moscow region were paid 405,000 rubles and additional payments of 195,000 rubles, so the final amount was 600 thousand rubles (about $6800).
