5.2.4 Gross international reserves
Russia’s international reserves of as of July 19, 2024, amounted to $611.3bn, having increased by $10bn over the week, according to the Bank of Russia. "International reserves as of the end of the day on July 19, 2024 amounted to $611.3bn, having increased over the week by $10bn, or 1.7%, mainly under the influence of positive revaluation," the regulator noted. As of July 12, the volume of reserves amounted to $601.3bn and as of July 5, the volume of reserves amounted to $597.2bn.
Reserve assets decreased by $1bn in the second quarter 2024 due to operations involving the National Wealth Fund, but the overall level of international reserves rose by $3bn to $593bn as of July 1, 2024, due to revaluation and other changes.
The volume of Russia’s National Wealth Fund as of July 1, 2024, amounted to 12.6 trillion rubles ($146.96bn) or 7% of the GDP forecast for 2024, the Ministry of Finance said. As of June 1, the volume of the National Wealth Fund was 12.7 trillion rubles ($144.83bn). At the same time, the volume of liquid assets of the National Wealth Fund as of July 1 amounted to 4.603 trillion rubles ($52.53bn), falling by around 443bn rubles ($5.05bn) in comparison with the previous month. At the same time, r from placing funds of the National Wealth Fund in 2024 amounted to 38.584bn rubles ($426.5mn). "The total revenues from placing the funds in permitted financial assets, with the exception of funds in accounts with the Bank of Russia, in 2024 amounted to 38.584bn rubles, which is equivalent to $426.5mn," the Ministry said.
