Meduza: Russian mortality data suggests over 64,000 troops killed fighting in Ukraine. Recently published mortality data suggests that over 64,000 Russian men were killed fighting in Ukraine, according to a report by independent Russian media outlets Meduza and Mediazona on June 28.
FSB says Ukraine tried to hijack a strategic bomber: Russia’s Federal Security Service claimed on July 8 ,that it’s prevented an attempt by Ukrainian intelligence agencies to recruit a Russian pilot to hijack a Tu-22M3 supersonic strategic bomber. The pilot was reportedly offered $3 million and Italian citizenship. In a video shared by Russian officials, the pilot in question (concealing his identity behind a helmet) says a Ukrainian intelligence agent contacted him on Telegram and also threatened his family when making the recruitment offer. (For some reason, the footage shows a pile of dollars in large bills, though the FSB’s story suggests the pilot never received the money.) Two years ago, the FSB claimed to have prevented a similar operation by Ukraine to hijack three Russian warplanes. In August 2023, Maxim Kuzminov famously hijacked a Mi-8 helicopter and flew it to Ukraine. He was later killed in Spain, presumably by Russian spies.
Russia uses injured soldiers, POWs in human wave attacks, Telegraph reports. Ukrainian soldiers have said that Russia often fails to evacuate injured troops and at times sends its own wounded soldiers back to the battlefield.

Rostec is increasing the production of aerial bombs of all calibers for their use in combination with unified gliding and correction modules (UMPK), as follows from the corporation’s factsheets prepared ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s meeting with Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov. "In 2023, Rostec resumed the production of 3,000-kilogram high-explosive aerial bombs. Now these are completely different, fundamentally upgraded weapons. These standard aviation munitions have been paired with the gliding and correction module. Such long-range means of attack are very much in demand. The production of air bombs of all calibers and types of action for use in combination with these modules is being stepped up," the factsheets read. In July, the Russian Defence Ministry for the first time released an official report saying a FAB-3000 bomb had been dropped from a Sukhoi-34 fighter-bomber. The 3-ton bomb hit a temporary deployment facility of the Ukrainian army.
Zelenskiy: "Russia uses about 3,500 guided bombs per month, and it's
impossible to shoot them all down. But it's possible to destroy all the bomb carriers, and I ask you to show your leadership in this."
