Gazprom also signed a contract for the supply of gas to the north and south of Kyrgyzstan.
In addition, Gazprom and Kazakhstan signed an action plan to prepare facilities of the Central Asia - Center pipeline system to increase the transportation of Russian gas to Uzbekistan.
In June 2023, Uzbekistan concluded a two-year gas purchase agreement with Gazprom. The daily supply volume is 9mn cubic meters and the annual volume is almost 2.8bn cubic meters. Deliveries under this agreement began on October 7, 2023.
By November 1, 2025, Gazprom plans to begin supplying significantly larger volumes of gas to the countries of Central Asia via the Central Asia - Center gas pipeline. At SPIEF, the company also announced plans to conclude medium-term fifteen-year contracts with Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
In February 2024, it was reported that the government of Uzbekistan intends to upgrade the republic’s main gas system in order to increase gas imports from the Russian Federation by 3.5 times, that is, from 9mn to 32mn cubic meters per day.
Russian Ministry of Finance expects additional oil and gas revenues to reach 140.7bn rubles ($1.57bn) in June, the ministry said on Wednesday. "The expected volume of additional oil and gas revenues of the federal budget is estimated to reach 140.7bn rubles in June 2024," the ministry said. The volume of payments from the budget to oil companies for fuel damper in May 2024 amounted to 201.7bn rubles ($2.25bn), in April - 187.2bn rubles ($2.09bn), in March - 164.4bn rubles ($1.84bn), in February - 127.9bn rubles ($1.43bn), and in January - 146.6bn rubles ($1.64bn).
It is predicted that Gazprom's gas exports to Europe will average 50-75 billion cubic meters per year until 2035, which barely reaches 33% of the volume supplied to the European market before the invasion of Ukraine. Gazprom hopes that the new Power of Siberia 2 pipeline to China will help compensate for lost European exports, but its capacity will be only 50 billion cubic meters per year, and prices for the gas it transports will be much lower. However, Russia cannot agree with China on plans to construct a new gas pipeline. Meanwhile, the President of Turkey announced the expansion of the Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline’s (TANAP) capacity, particularly for transporting gas produced in Turkmenistan to Turkey and Europe. The TANAP gas pipeline passes through Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, and further into Europe via the Trans-Adriatic gas pipeline, bypassing Russia.
