Russia’s exports of agriculture products have increased by 16% year-to-date to over 50mn tonnes, Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut said. Russia’s wheat exports are expected to reach record volumes by the end of this agriculture season, which will allow confirming the country’s leadership on the global market, she said. "We also expect a record volume of exports of sunflower and soybean oil," the minister added. "That said, a drop in global prices for main products has led to a certain decline in our supplies in value terms compared with last year’s level," she noted, adding though that the ministry still expects "positive results by the end of the year.".
Russia is actively seeking new markets. Russia’s EuroChem delivered 8mn metric tonnes of fertilizers to Brazil and secured 20% of total sales in the country, CEO Oleg Shiryaev said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). "EuroChem is one of key fertilizer suppliers to the Brazilian market - in 2023, we sold 8mn tonnes of fertilizers in the Brazilian market. This accounts for approximately 20% of total sales in Brazil," Shiryaev said.
Miratorg plans to supply about 40,000 tonnes of pork to China by the end of this year, President of the Russian agricultural holding Viktor Linnik said during a session at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. He recalled that in March the holding sent the first batch of pork in the amount of 27 tonnes to China from the Belgorod region. Earlier, head of the Russian agricultural watchdog Sergey Dankvert, said on the sidelines of the forum that by the end of 2024 exports of Russian pork products to China could reach 100 thousand tonnes. In late February 2024, the Chinese competent authority certified three Russian companies to ship pork from Russia to China. On March 7, the Miratorg agro-industrial holding announced the shipment of the first batch of pork in the amount of 27 tonnes from the Belgorod region to China. On April 2, another Russian enterprise sent three shipments of pork by-products totaling 167.99 tonnes to China. On April 13, the Russian agricultural watchdog told TASS that the first batch of Russian pork arrived at the Chinese port.
Russian supplies of fertilizers to India rose 1.5-fold last year, while deliveries to Brazil added 20% reaching record 9.4mn tonnes, head of the Russian Fertilizers Producers Association Andrey Guryev told reporters on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
"The strongest growth of supplies of Russian fertilizers was registered to India as export there increased 1.5-fold in 2023 compared with 2022 and almost five-fold compared with 2021 to 5.4mn tonnes," he said.
The association also notes an increase in supplies of Russian fertilizers to Latin American countries, mainly Brazil, by almost 20% to record 9.4mn tonnes. "African countries also act as one of prior sales markets as deliveries to the continent doubled in five years, reaching 1.6mn tonnes last year," Guryev added.
