Turkey's thermal coal imports from Russia rose from 0.6mn tonnes in March to 2.1mn tonnes in August to date, S&P Global reported on August 25.
Turkey’s monthly coal imports from Russia remained below one million tonnes on average over the same period last year.
China and India are other beneficiaries of discounted Russian coal, while an unnamed European trader expected Japan, South Korea and Taiwan to join in purchases due to booming prices caused by Europe’s energy crisis.
The price of Newcastle 5,500 kcal/kg NAR (Net as Received) coal was assessed at $185 per tonne FOB (Free on Board) as of August 25 and at an average of $185 so far in 2022.
The FOB Russia Pacific 6,300 kcal/kg GAR (Gross as Received) was assessed at $151 FOB, available to Indian buyers at $175-$185 CFR (Cost and Freight) India.
