Agency. But Rosneft said it had increased its deliveries to Asia by a third and "fully compensated for the decline in supplies to European buyers."
Rosneft increased oil exports to non-CIS countries by 4.8% y/y in January-September 2022 to 77.3mn tonnes. In particular, exports to Asia increased by almost a third, to 52.4mn tonnes. Thanks to optimization of sales channels, Rosneft increased the share of Asian countries to 77% of exports and fully compensated for the decline in sales to Europe with supplies to Asia.
Despite the heavy loss, Rosneft's ruble revenue in the first nine months of 2022 increased by 15.7% y/y to the equivalent of $102.3bn. Rosneft increased sales of petroleum products on domestic market in January-September 2022 by 6.5% y/y. "In 9M 2022, domestic petroleum product sales amounted to 31.1mn tonnes, a 6.5% increase y/y," according to the report. In the first nine months of 2022, the company processed 71.0mn tonnes of oil (a year earlier the refining volume was 71.7mn tonnes). In the third quarter of 2022 refining volume grew to 25.2mn tonnes, including 23.3mn tonnes processed in Russia.
● Novatek
The launch of Novatek’s first line of the Arctic LNG 2 plant is still scheduled for December 2023, and the second and third lines - for 2024 and 2026, respectively, Deputy General Director for capital construction of Arctic LNG 2 Timofey Sazonov told reporters. "The goal is to launch ... in December 2023. [Second and third stages] - in 2024 and 2026. We are not reconsidering [deadlines]," he said. It was reported back in November that Russia may start deliveries of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Japan from the Arctic LNG-2 project in 2023, which can reach 2mn tonnes per year in the future. According to Galuzin, around 2mn tonnes of LNG will be added to gas supplies to Japan "with the full-scale launch of Arctic LNG-2." He noted that now the volume of Japanese imports of Russian LNG reaches roughly 5-6mn tonnes, which means that, taking into account fuel from the Arctic LNG-2 project, the share of Russian gas in the structure of Japanese imports may increase. Arctic LNG-2 is Novatek's second LNG project. It includes the construction of three lines for the production of liquefied natural gas with a capacity of 6.6mn metric tonnes per year each and stable gas condensate up to 1.6mn metric tonnes per year. The launch of the first line is planned for December 2023, the launch of the second and third lines is expected in 2024 and 2026, respectively.
Novatek announced the discovery of a new gas condensate field on the Gydan Peninsula. It has been named the "Viktor Girya" field. The discovery was made during tests of the first prospecting well within the company's license area in the region. The new field's recoverable reserves reportedly amount to 52 bcm for natural gas and 2 mln tonnes for liquids under Russian reporting standards.
