South Africa’s Sasol
adheres to key principles
for Blocks 16/19 project
Sasol remains committed to protecting critical ecosystems, livelihoods and the sustainable uti- lisation of Mozambique’s oil & gas reserves in a manner which benefits local communities and all our stakeholders. Our approach to assessing the potential of shallow water Blocks 16/19 has always, and will continue to, follow this critical ethos.
Sasol has acknowledged and are respectful of
the significant amount of interest from the public as well as the communities that could be affected by any potential exploration project during the recent stakeholder engagement process.
All the comments received will be incorpo- rated into the Environmental Pre-feasibility and Scoping Report (EPDA) report which will then be used to define the terms of reference to the next phase of the Environmental Impact Assess- ment (EIA) process.
As a responsible corporate citizen in Mozam- bique, Sasol will ensure that concerns and com- ments from diverse stakeholders are critically evaluated, considered, as well as provide updates on any progress and way forward regarding the project.

Tullow submits notices of
force majeure for Blocks
10BB and 13T in Kenya
JV partner Africa Oil has announced that Tullow Oil Kenya, the operating partner on Blocks 10BB and 13T in Kenya, has submitted notices of force majeure to the Kenyan Ministry of Petroleum and Mining on behalf of the joint venture part- ners in these blocks.
These declarations are the result of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the operations, including Kenyan government’s restrictions on domestic and international travel, and recent tax changes that adversely impact the project economics. These are exacerbated by the recent unprecedented crash in global crude oil prices.
Declaration of force majeure allows time for an improvement in the operating environment and for the joint venture partners, to discuss with the government of Kenya the best way forward for this strategic project.

TDI-Brooks completes
multibeam phase for TGS
offshore Nigeria
TDI-BROOKS International (under contract to TGS) has completed the offshore multibeam phase offshore the Niger Delta. This survey took place in water depths of 750 to 3,500 metres and is Nigeria’s first regional multi-client Multibeam and Seafloor Sampling (MB&SS) Study.
TDI-Brooks’ R/V Gyre acquired 82,000 square km of high-resolution hull-mounted multibeam echo sounder data. During the multibeam data collection, a total of 1,223 active hydrocarbon seeps were detected in the multi- beam water column data. Onboard hydrocarbon seep analysis was conducted in near real-time onboard the vessel to expedite the process of core selection. The Gyre is fitted with an EM302 MBES (EM304 upgrade pending).
The R/V Proteus is scheduled to begin acqui- sition of the follow-up Surface Geochemical Exploration (SGE) coring campaign in July 2020, where approximately 245 piston core samples targeting suspected seep features selected from the MBES dataset will be collected, along with an additional 45 additional piston core samples for geotechnical and biostratigraphic studies. An additional 17 surface heat flow measurements will also be collected as part of the program. TDI-Brooks, May 14 2020
