German GDP stagnated from April to June compared to the first quarter, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office at the end of July. Prior to that, it had contracted for two consecutive quarters.
A recent survey conducted by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) has indicated that President Vladimir Putin continues to enjoy a high level of confidence among Russian citizens, with a rating of 77.1%. The survey, conducted between August 28 and September 3, involved 1,600 respondents aged 18 and above.
The findings of the survey reveal that when asked about their confidence in President Putin, 77.1% of those polled responded positively, marking only a slight decrease of 0.5 percentage points over the previous week. Furthermore, the approval rating for President Putin's work remains steady at 73.6%, with no significant changes reported.
The Russian government also garnered approval from a significant portion of respondents, with 49.4% expressing support, representing a notable increase of 1.4 percentage points compared to the previous week. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin received approval from 51% of those surveyed, reflecting a modest increase of 0.3 percentage points over the week. The report indicates that Prime Minister Mishustin enjoys the trust of 60.5% of respondents, marking a slight increase of 0.3 percentage points.
The survey also sought the opinions of respondents regarding the leaders of Russia's parliamentary factions. Gennady Zyuganov, the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), received the trust of 33.6% of respondents, representing a notable increase of 2.3 percentage points over the previous week. Sergey Mironov, the leader of A Just Russia - For Truth, garnered the approval of 29% of those surveyed, marking a decrease of 2.6 percentage points over one week.
Other party leaders included Alexey Nechaev, leader of The New People party, who received support from 6.6% of respondents, representing a decrease of 1 percentage point over the week. Leonid Slutsky, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), garnered the trust of 15.7% of respondents, marking a decrease of 0.7 percentage points.
In terms of party support, the United Russia party maintained a lead with the backing of 37.6% of respondents, marking a slight decrease of 0.1 percentage points. The CPRF received the support of 11.1% of those surveyed, reflecting an increase of 0.7 percentage points over the week. The New People party secured 4.4% of support, marking a slight decrease of 0.1 percentage points.
