Serbia aims to turn Belgrade airport into the most developed airport in the region
Kosice airport reports record passenger numbers
Russian Railways' cargo turnover rises 5% y/y in July
The strategic goal of Serbia’s government is to make the country’s largest airport, Belgrade’s Airport Nikola Tesla (ANT), the fastest growing and most developed one in the region in the coming years, Serbia’s Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic said on August 3 during a meeting with the president and CEO of the South Korea’s Incheon Airport, Il Young- Chung.
The Serbian government has already launched procedures for a 25-year concession for ANT. The concession has attracted huge interest from foreign investors, which reportedly include prominent companies from Germany, France, China, Russia, Turkey, Switzerland, India, Korea and Greece.
Kosice Airport, serving Slovakia’s main eastern city, reported record high passenger numbers in July.
The airport reported a 19% y/y increase in overall passenger numbers in the seventh month of the year. Over 79,500 passengers were served, marketing manager Juraj Toth told TASR. A total of 45,000 used charter services, a new record.
Russian Railways saw its rail freight turnover gain 5.1% y/y in July, while the January-July y/y growth stood at 3.3% for volumes and 7.1% for turnover, the company said on August 1.
"Having seen growth of 2.5-7.0%, the volumes of rail transported cargos moderated slightly in July to a 2.2% y/y increase," VTB Capital said in a research note. "The trends did not change materially over the last month: bulk cargos performing strongly (coal leads at +12.5% y/y in July), with the exception of construction materials (-13% y/y)."
