Ukraine's largest gas producer has put three more wells into operation.
State company Ukrgazvydobuvannya put into operation three highly productive wells in June, with a total throughput of 425,000 cubic meters of gas per day, reported the Naftogaz Group. The company added that two wells are new, the third was restarted after major repairs. Using new 3D technology that helps to optimize the exploration and production of oil and gas fields has allowed the launch of 10 new wells, the daily output of which exceeded threemn cubic meters, said the CEO of Naftogaz Group, Oleksiy Chernyshov. Another well put into operation after repair operates in a field with almost 30 years of history. Before the repairs, its gas production was insignificant, but after transferring it to the overlying horizon, the well increased its production tenfold. Overall, during the first half of the year Ukrgazvydobuvannya has put into operation 11 highly productive wells with a production of more than 100,000 cubic meters per day each. Four wells yield more than 300,000 cubic meters of gas per day.
Ukraine opened access to a new route for importing gas into the country.
From July 1, 2023, the National Energy Regulatory Commission set the tariff for natural gas transportation services through the Oleksiivka entry point at $4.45 (without VAT) per thousand cubic meters per day, reported the GTS Operator. Considering the market conditions and numerous requests from traders, the OGTSU expects active use of the Oleksiivka point's capacity for gas transportation from Moldova, both for storage in Ukrainian facilities and for transit to other countries. "Intermittent capacities will be available to participants, which, given the technical features of the Oleksiiivka entry point, must be reserved by submitting a daily nomination/renomination," the message reads. "This decision expands Moldova's ability to store gas in Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities and expands Moldova's access to the EU market to strengthen the region's flexibility and energy security," said the GM of OGTSU, Dmytro Lippa.
Ukrgazvydobuvannya has drilled the largest well in the history of domestic gas production. The new exploration well, with a depth of 6,600 meters, became the deepest in Ukraine's history. These geophysical studies have allowed the extraction of more than 100mn cubic meters of recoverable hydrocarbon reserves. The flow rate of the well reaches 150,000 cubic meters.

Ukrainians have started buying more electric than gasoline-powered cars. Cars with gasoline engines are no longer the absolute leader in Ukraine's new passenger car market. According to the results of the first half of 2023, the share of cars with gasoline engines in the sales of new cars in Ukraine decreased from 57% to 49%. Growing demand for hybrids and battery-powered cars is rapidly changing the market structure, reports Ukravtoprom. Compared to the first half of 2022, the share of cars with gasoline engines in new car sales decreased from 57% to 49%, or by 8%.
