including the EBRD, to secure concessional financing for hydrogen projects.
To attract investors, Azerbaijan is implementing policy reforms to incentivise hydrogen production. The government has introduced tax exemptions and financial support mechanisms for renewable energy projects, while also participating in international hydrogen trade discussions.
Azerbaijan’s hydrogen strategy aligns with its broader goal of becoming a regional clean energy hub. By leveraging its renewable resources, existing energy infrastructure, and strategic geographic position, the country has the potential to become a leading exporter of clean hydrogen. However, achieving these goals will require significant infrastructure investments, regulatory reforms, and collaboration with international partners.

Saudi Arabia's Alwaleed Philanthropies has unveiled Atlai 2.0, an advanced AI-powered platform designed to transform climate change monitoring and response capabilities worldwide, the group announced on February 25.
Developed in collaboration with Bold Xperiences, part of the Saudi-based Bold Group, the platform integrates satellite imagery, climate data and artificial intelligence to provide comprehensive environmental intelligence for policymakers, activists, media and organisations.
The system expands upon the original Atlai platform by offer- ing real-time monitoring of deforestation trends, temperature fluctuations and air quality shifts with enhanced precision.
Its AI-driven climate intelligence detects environmental patterns, predicts emerging trends and generates automated climate change reports.
"The climate crisis requires a global response, and Atlai 2.0 fosters the collaboration we need to succeed," said HRH Prin- cess Lamia bint Majed Al Saud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies.
"This platform empowers journalists, activists and decision makers to share insights, coordinate efforts and act with greater urgency, ensuring that data translates into tangible progress for our planet," she added.
A key innovation of the platform is its deforestation alert system, which now incorporates temperature and air quality data to provide deeper context about environmental interactions. The system aims to bridge the gap between complex climate science and accessible, actionable intelligence.
Beyond data capabilities, Atlai 2.0 serves as a collaborative hub connecting climate advocates across borders to share strategies, insights and resources. This community-driven
approach positions the platform as part of a broader move- ment dedicated to environmental protection.
Bold Xperiences, which specialises in digital experiences merging technology with human engagement, led the development of the user experience to ensure the platform remains intuitive and impactful for users.
Alwaleed Philanthropies has supported social welfare initia- tives for more than four decades, with investments exceeding $4.4bn across 1,000 projects in 190 countries.
The organisation is managed by 10 Saudi female members and has reached more than one billion beneficiaries world- wide.
Atlai 2.0 is now available online offering global stakeholders access to environmental intelligence and establishing a new standard for data-driven climate action initiatives, according to the foundation.
