The telecoms company signed an agreement
with the authorities in Dubrovnik to roll out high- speed internet connections for around 11,000 households and 1,200 companies and institutions, state news agency Hina reported.
The HRK93mn (€12.5mn) project is partly funded by Hrvatski Telekom, which is providing HRK57mn, with the remaining HRK36mn funded through EU grants.
The project is part of a plan to install broadband internet in the Dubrovnik, Peljesec and the islands, and Neretva valley areas by the end
of 2023.
Earlier, Hrvatski Telekom announced it was investing in broadband in the city of Osijek and other municipalities in Osijek-Baranja County, with a minimum speed of 40 Mbps, as reported by Poslovni Dnevnik. This will be an investment of over HRK54mn that will benefit almost 10,000 internet users.
Vodafone Ukraine raises $500mn via Eurobond placement
Vodafone Ukraine, the second largest Ukrainian mobile operator, has placed a Eurobond issue for $500mn at 6.2% per annum.
A source in the banking secotor told news agency Interfax that the demand for the operator's bonds amounted to about $3bn. "The funds raised will be used to repay the bridge loan [of] the amount of $464mn and corporate goals," the source said.
JP Morgan, Raiffeisen Bank International, Dragon Capital and ICBC Standard Bank acted as organisers of the bond issue.
In November, Russian telecom operator MTS signed an agreement with Telco Solutions and Investments, which is owned by Azerbaijan's Bakcell telecom company, on the sale of MTS operations in Ukraine - Vodafone Ukraine - for
$734mn, including deferred payments of about $84mn. Bakcell telecom company is incorporated in NEQSOL Holding.
Australia’s GetSwift acquires Serbian ITC firm Logo for €5.5mn
Australian software company GetSwift has purchased a majority stake in Serbian information and communications technology (ICT) firm Logo for €5.5mn.
GetSwift's expansion comes a year after it
bought two US businesses, Delivery BIZ Pro and Scheduling+ for $8.2mn, Business News Australia reported.
The move also comes one year after the group set up its second development centre in the Serbian capital Belgrade to service customers in Europe and the Middle East.
GetSwift's management believes the acquisition will allow the company to work with larger enterprise clients and accelerate its global expansion.
Hyundai and Kia invest €100mn in Arrival start- up of ex-head of Russian Yota
South Korean Hyundai and Kia car majors have invested €100mn for 3.33% in the UK-based start-up Arrival of the ex-head of Russian telecom operator Yota Denis Sverdlov, with the total valuation of the company at €3bn, RBC business daily reported.
As reported by bne IntelliNews, 2020 already saw deals with tech unicorns with Russian roots, following Acronis and Luxoft deals of 2019.
