8.3.1 ​Equity market dynamics
The impact of the pandemic hit stock market flows in May. ​However, as the month came to an end the market rallied and the RTS was trading back at 1,200 after a low of 800 in the bowl of the crisis.
Most sectors remain underwater with oil & gas the worst, down -22% YTD as of May 29, but remarkably metals and mining was flat YtD having regained all the losses it made in the last months.
The stock market was lifted by an on going recovery in oil prices and improving sentiment on Russia which has emerged as something of a safe haven.
