occupied parts of the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions. After that, they must start re-energizing these areas from the substation in Dzhankoi and then gradually reach Kakhovska, and re-energize the ZNPP. After that, it will no longer be possible to connect it to the Ukrainian energy system, and it will remain on the Russian frequency. This is their plan, and they have started implementing it," Kotin said.
Ukraine will supply 30% of Moldova's electricity needs. The Moldovan energy company Energocom signed contracts for the purchase of Ukrainian electricity in September, amounting to a third of the country’s consumption. As the Minister of Infrastructure of Moldova, Andrii Spinu, clarified, Energocom signed the following contracts: 67% of the contracted amount was signed with the Moldovan State District Power Plant at $59.9 per MWh, 30% of the gas purchase was signed with Energoatom at $77 per MWh, and 3% of the purchase, for balancing during peak consumption, a contract was concluded with Ukhydroenergo at $100 per MWh. The weighted average price for August was $66.23 per MWh.
Ukrainian electricity prices for the EU increased by 150% in a week. The weighted average cost of access to interstate power transmission lines in the direction of the EU during August 15-21 increased by more than 1.5 times compared to the previous week, reported Ukrenergo. The company said the average price in the week reached UAH 11,300 per MW compared to the previous week’s average of UAH 6,900 per MW. Experts explained this increase by the fact that there was an increase in the weighted average base load price in Romania and Slovakia, which increased by 33% (from €378 MWh to €502 MWh) and 40% (from €358 MWh to €502 MWh) respectively. During the week, the crossing’s entire available volume was sold at auctions: 125 MW for Romania and 125 MW for Slovakia.
Russia is preparing to shut down the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant.
Representatives of the occupying leadership of the Zaporizhia NPP extended the "short-term weekend" of Ukrainian personnel, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported. The duration of the "weekend" is not specified. At the same time, some representatives of Russian Rosatom were brought to the station. Occupation soldiers, along with many weapons and ammunition, have also been stationed at the nuclear power plant. Ukraine’s intelligence officers believe that these actions may indicate the occupier’s intention to disconnect the station from the Ukrainian power grid and supply - the so-called "zeroing." That is, the station will remain without power for a length of time. Diesel substations will provide an emergency power supply, creating a potential danger as the probability of critical situations increases.
State nuclear enterprise Energoatom will build a new power unit at the Rivne Nuclear Power plant. The new unit, with a capacity of 1,100 MW, will be made using American Westinghouse AR1000 technology, reported gov.ua. It is planned to be put into operation in 2032 on the site chosen for construction almost 20 years ago. Pre-project work is already underway. Specialists analysed the current and prospective use of water resources in the area where the NPP is located and conducted an analysis of the existing infrastructure of the Rivne NPP and intersystem connections of the western Ukrainian region’s energy system. The construction of the new No. 5 power unit is necessary given the need to replace the capacities of power units Nos. 1 and 2.
