Car and light commercial vehicle (LCV) sales in Russia remained strong in May, with total sales up by 18% year-on-year to 0.147mn units, according to the Association of European Businesses (AEB), which monitors the sector. The January-May sales increased by 20% y/y to 0.693mn units. "We believe that the market's continuing recovery points to a persistently strong consumer trend," VTB Capital commented on June 6. However, the recent weakening of the ruble "might have pulled forward some future demand amid concerns of potential price increases," VTB believes and so far maintains the 2018 forecast of an 11% y/y increase in car sales, while admitting upside risk to this projection. In May Russia's largest carmaker Avtovaz remained the market leader with its Lada brand. Its sales were up 14% y/y in May (with a market share of 19.4%), while year-to-date sales increased 23% y/y (to a 20% share). Four models produced by the company were in the Top 10, both for May and January-May (Vesta, Granta, Largus, and XRAY).

The co-owner and chairman of the board of one of Russia's largest airports Vnukovo Vitaly Vantsev will buy 25%+1 stake in the airport from state property agency Rosimushestvo, he told Vedomosti d aily on June 14, bring his total shake to 38.5%.
