In a series of works painted in Paris Vanni takes up the spatial decompositions of Dutch landscapes to apply them to the human figure. This transposition will be very useful to him in bringing those compositional discoveries to a further stage of development despite the fact that this research did not develop further and the paintings that followed are decidedly more tributary to the work created the year before in Vinkeeven. Unfortunately, few documents remain to testify to this research because all the works were stolen while they were stored in Rome.
