This work painted during his
stay in New York in '58 represents the synthesis of previous research. There are no more allusions to three- dimensionality. The two embankments between red and magenta represent a tear in the surface but there is nothing to testify whether the surface revealed is the first or the second. A characteristic aspect of Vanni's compositions, which contemplates a temporal evolution of the figurations represented in two opposite directions, is here taken up. In fact in this case one could imagine either that the two reds tend to close or an expansion of the magenta at the expense of the red. Although Vanni has abandoned all figurative intentions, he does not reject
