This work bears witness, like
some that precede it and
others that follow, to Vanni’s different attempts to find a new balance between dualism and integration. In fact, it oscillates between the more instinctive approach expressed in Genesis or, in this painting, developing a rhythmic alternation in the balance of full and empty spaces. In both cases a constant attention to the painting technique serves to mediate the characterization of one or the other choice. In Genesis the free brushstrokes are glazed and immersed in the fluid mass of the paint that makes them associate with algae in the current. In Earth
