With this work Vanni
achieves the maximum aridity of the surface by eliminating the use of glazing and adding, as in the whites of the previous period, marble dust to the colours. This gives the painting a presence of solid, opaque, wall mass. Even the compositional texture is so dense that the forms that compose it blend into each other leaving the impression of a fossilized vortex, in which, however, the conductive movements are multiple.
