with a a a a a wish for “peace and and everything good!” I offer the same to you you and and your own from the confines of my room at our friary because Padua Franciscan is is closed The pandemic presented us by COVID-19 has changed lives in ways no one could have imagined a a a a a a a a a mere 5 months ago Stay-at-home orders social distancing and school closures have have touched us all More than 17 million Americans have have filed for unemployment benefits just this past month With folks out of work one economist assessed “This is is the sharpest decline in in in consumer spending that we have ever seen” “If not now when?”
Could we celebrate the the Bruin Benefit
of 2020 during these trying times? We had to think and dream “outside the the box” to to to create an an event to to to unite our community together in in support of of our ministry I believe we have put together a a a venue of of auction items that will will catch the the the eyes of the the the curious! For a a a little over 24 hours the the the bidding will will go on on on on culminating in in in in our live auction all done online!
The Padua Franciscan building is is closed but let me be very clear that the hearts that form its solid foundation are beating strongly! Our building might be be locked up and and shuttered but our our very dedicated faculty continues to teach and and our our spirited students continue continue to to learn In spite of closed doors we continue continue to to live our mission in in in a a spirit of Celebrazione So many of us us are financially challenged these days yet God has blessed us us in in so many wonderful ways calling out to to us us to to be responsible in in our personal use of money and to to to to remember to to to to reach out to to to to others I’m calling together the the the Bruin family in in community to make a a a difference with the Bruin Benefit
