This course will be offered every other year and will be offered in the 2022-2023 school year. IMPORTANT: A student does not have to take World Cultures I in order to take World Cultures II or vice versa. They are two separate, independent courses. The purposes and goals of this course are the same as for World Cultures I. However, in this course the students will study different cultures, which include Japan, Sub-Sahara Africa, India, and Southeast Asia.
GEOGRAPHY (892)

Geography is an interdisciplinary course synthesizing the study of human and physical phenomena over space and
time. Students build on and refine their understanding, appreciation, and skill in geographic concepts and spatial
thinking. Using a historical and contemporary approach, students will explore the world while analyzing the foundational themes of geography and the geographic reasons impacting the rise and decline of societies. Students explore the peoples, places, and phenomena of our world. Expect the ordinary to be seen anew through geography’s extraordinary lens, as we voyage afar to places we once thought we knew only to reveal a deeper understanding of our dynamic world and our place in it.

This course will be offered every other year and is available for the 2023-2024 school year. Psychology is the study of mental processes and human behavior. This course will be divided into two parts. The first part reviews the history of Psychology with special emphasis on the important psychological theories of Freud, Jung, Rogers, Skinner, Watson, James, and Wundt. The scientific research method is then explored so that students may identify the steps taken to objectively assess behaviors from an empirical perspective. The second part focuses on specific areas of Psychology such as the workings of the human brain, consciousness, human development, adolescent psychology, as well as gender psychology.
  The purpose of this course is to heighten student awareness and deepen further understanding of current issues. Critical
 thinking skills are developed through identification and analyzing of news bias. Through multimedia sources, as well as
 oppositional news positions on issues, students will understand and form sound opinions on contemporary issues.
