Admissions NEWS
 Webinar for Incoming
Freshmen
On April 22, the Padua Admissions Department held its first webinar for the incoming Class of 2024. Brother Tom Carroll, ofm welcomed students to the Padua family and explained what it means to be Franciscan. Principal David Stec ‘86 assured both the students and parents that the freshmen curriculum would be adjusted to help students that may have experienced gaps due to remote learning. During the sessions, parents sent in their questions, and an FAQ was sent out to parents following the webinar.
High School Placement Preparation Class & Test
Padua welcomed 70 eighth grade students for the High School Placement Preparation Course August 4-7. Padua’s teachers provided instruction in English and Math as well as test
taking strategies to help students prepare for the High School Placement Test (HSPT). Students took the test at the end of
the course and have the option to use the score for their 2021 admission to Padua.
New Bruins Build Relationships at New Student Orientation
Having ended their 8th grade year with a sudden shift to online learning, the incoming Padua Class of 2024 is already used to adapting to change. But since most of Padua’s “welcoming” events were cancelled in the spring and summer, it was important to make sure the Class of 2024 had opportunities to begin building relationships with one another when school started. Freshmen orientation began with an Opening Assembly where Mr. Stec explained the theme for this year, “Welcome Home to Padua.” New students also participated in their first Mass together, learned how to use MyPad, walked through their classes, and enjoyed lunch together, all while social distancing.
