ONE DAY – ONE GOAL – ONE PADUA
Bruins Big Give was a BIG Success - $260,109.
The Bruins Big Give just keeps getting bigger and better! Now in its fourth year, our 24-hour day of giving on Thursday, October 1st generated more than $260,901 with support from alumni, parents, friends, faculty/staff and students.
The student body is incentivized to achieve the highest possible rate of student participation. Students can earn dress down days and even a day off school. For the second year running, they have surpassed Mr. Stec’s challenge with 93% of the students dropping their giving envelope into the big orange buckets. Carly Frattare ‘22 enjoyed being a part of the day of giving. “I love seeing how everybody gives whatever they can
to help those in our Padua community. It doesn’t matter the amount. What matters is the fact that I know my peers are glad to help out however they can,” said Carly.
“Instilling the importance of giving back begins while our kids are current students and hopefully continues on long after they graduate,” said Arlene Gagliardo, Director of the Franciscan Fund. “Alumni support is what will keep Padua the premier Catholic Franciscan High School it has come to be known as in Northeast Ohio.”
The generosity of our alumni, current parents, parents of former students, grandparents and friends of Padua really made a difference and gave us a strong start to the Franciscan Fund
for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. The Board of Trustees once again presented a $20,000 challenge grant and matched dollar for dollar every gift that came in the first few hours of the day.
A second $20,000 match from Michael Schuessler ‘85 at the mid-point of the day generated more giving from our Padua community. Padua’s giving day centers around our patron saint, St. Francis of Assisi who said, “It is in giving that we receive.” The Padua community celebrated St. Francis and the success of the Bruins Big Give during special Masses for each individual class later in the month at St. Anthony of Padua Church.
Thank you to everyone who opened their hearts and gave so generously. Your gifts are providing a Padua Franciscan education for today’s Bruins, and tomorrow’s leaders.
