From the Mouth to the Mouse:
MedTrack Grads Pursue
A Variety of Careers
One of the key values of MedTrack is assuring students that they can still change their minds as they continue their career discernment in college. Some are 100 percent sure about their path and never waiver.
Steven Sivik ’16 is one such graduate. As a Padua senior, he received a seat in the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine in conjunction with pursuing his bachelor’s degree at the University of Toledo. Steven launched his dental school career at Case in July with the traditional “White Coat Ceremony.”
On the other hand, Jaclyn Moran ’14 was inspired by her involvement with t
University of Dayton’s service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega, to obtain a master’s
certificate in non-profit leadership and management. She is currently absorbing all
she can about the business and leadership techniques of “the Disney Way” to benefit
her future non-profit employers. Jaclyn also volunteers at Give Kids the World in Orlando, an organization she served at in college, and one that Padua’s own Key Club will serve during Thanksgiving Break 2018.
MedTrack Director Laurie (Keco) Grabowski ’89 is passionate about maintaining relationships with all of her graduates.
Applying MedTrack Skills to Undergraduate Research
Chad Jaenke ’16 has continued the research skills he developed in the MedTrack Honors Advanced Science Seminar class through the University of Dayton’s Honors Summer Research Symposium. His research focused on finding the switches that activate animal genes through a combined in silico (computational) and in vivo (experiments in organisms) approach.
“I want each student to follow their own path and do wha
right for them. I know MedTrack played an important role in their career preparation, whether or not they ultimately pursue healthcare. I love them all the same.”
– Laurie (Keco) Grabowski ’89

“My drive for discoveries in science and research is grounded in the strong foundation that the MedTrack program gave me at Padua.”
