Symphonic Band Earns Top Rating at OMEA
Padua’s Symphonic Band participated at the OMEA (Ohio Music Education Association) District Band Adjudicated Event at Westlake High School on Saturday March 3, 2018. The 60-member ensemble received a Superior Rating (I) in both the prepared concert performance and the sight-reading performance.
OMEA defines a superior rating as the following, “An outstanding performance with very few technical errors and exemplifying a truly musical expression. This rating should be reserved for the truly outstanding performance.”
Padua’s Symphonic Band has earned six Superiors in the past 10 years under Mr. Mark Wozniak’s ’97 direction. The other four years they earned a rating of Excellent (II).
Choir Sings at Police Week Ceremony
Music
Members of Padua’s choir sang at the Police Memorial Ceremony in Cleveland during Police Week on Friday, May 18, 2018. They sang “Amazing Grace,”“Someday” and “Swinging with the Saints” to ensure fallen heroes are never forgotten.
Bruins Shine at Annual Cleveland Theatre Conference
The cast and crew of one of this winter’s featured One Acts, “The Pot Boiler,” competed at the annual Cleveland Theatre Conference at Tri-C West on Saturday, March 10, 2018. Our students received several awards:
Greg Prevoznik ’18 won Best Performer Alex Koler ’19 won Best Stage Presence Paige Ray ’20 won a Playhouse gift card
Students also got to do some improvisation games with two actors from Great Lakes Theater Company. The full cast of the show was as follows:
