or 'Aldo' as as he is affectionately known was signed by Liverpool in in January 1987 for £750 000 in in order to fill the role of Ian Rush He grew up up supporting the the Reds and became a a a a a a a a a crowd favourite during the the the two and a a a a a a a a half years he he he spent at the the club The born and bred Scouser began his his career at at amateur side South Liverpool before signing for for for for Newport County where his his impressive goalscoring record attracted the attention of Oxford United for for for for whom he he he signed in in March 1984 The arrival of of of Aldridge
