Fishing
Sussex County offers some of the best surf and deep-sea fishing along the East Coast. Fishing is excellent in the Indian River Inlet area, Rehoboth Bay, and Delaware Bay. Any bait and tackle shop can help you plan your fishing outing.

A fishing license is required for fishing, crabbing, or clamming in
the non-tidal and tidal waters in Delaware. Non-tidal waters include lakes, ponds, impoundments, and streams where the tides do not occur. Most non-tidal waters are fresh except for brackish water impoundments. A license may be obtained from the Dover, Delaware office or from over 100 license agents, mostly sporting goods
and hardware stores, throughout the state. Licenses can also be purchased online.

Division of Parks and Recreation Surf Fishing Beaches are Beach Plum Island, Cape Henlopen State Park, Delaware Seashore State Park, and Fenwick Island State Park.
In most cases, a license is required to fish in Delaware waters. Permits may be purchased online or at the park office. There is a four-wheel drive vehicular license requirement for all state-owned beaches. This license is available at State Park offices or at the Division of Parks and Recreation in Dover.

Both freshwater AND surf fishing can be enjoyed at Cape Henlopen State Park, Delaware Seashore State Park, and Fenwick Island State Park.

Regulated hunting is permitted throughout many parks and on several private acres of prime territory for waterfowl, deer, and small game. For information on hunting licensing, regulations, or locations call or visit the website.
