The festival is held the last weekend in August. Great music, great food, and amusement park rides . . . Fun for the whole family! Activities include: youth seed spit contest, youth watermelon roll contest, youth sack race, youth tug of war contest, balloon clown, face painting, and local, regional, and national bands perform. Event typically draws more than 25,000 people.

The Ayden Collard Festival is held the first week in September. Some of the events include: the Miss Ayden pageant, Collard Festival Parade, Collard eating contests, music, art show, and lots of rides and other attractions!

Held at the Pitt County Fairgrounds, the Pitt County American
Legion Agricultural Fair has been in operation since 1920. Originally
founded by the Pitt County Fair Association, it is now operated by
American Legions Posts in Greenville, Farmville, and Ayden, NC.
Covering 51-acres of land, this event’s midway features 38 rides and
shows. At least 10 free entertainment shows are presented each
year. The fair presents a yesteryear village, rated as one of the best
of its kind. The village buildings were built in 1978, and include a
church and school. These structures create a sense of nostalgia from
fairs in years gone by. Also featured are antique fairground organs,
which plays throughout the grounds of the fair.

The Pitt County American Legion Agricultural Fair presents a variety 2020 of shows, amusement rides, and great tasting foods. This fair consists
of a total of 24 buildings devoted to exhibits and farm antiques.

Farmville’s Fourth of July Celebration
Walter B Jones Town Common
Enjoy food, carnival rides, music, and more! Bring your chairs and your appetites to this year’s July 4th celebration on the Walter B. Jones Town Common. The American Legion will be on hand to sell hot dogs and Jones Fruit Farm will have homemade ice cream on sale for dessert. The Tar River Band will entertain from the gazebo, the Republican Women of Pitt County will offer flags and patriotic items, and a Woodman of the World representative will hand out patriotic favors to the kids. The festivities begin at 6pm with the band playing until 9pm. And after dark, the fireworks begin!
