In spring 2010, the state legislature passed and the governor signed a new state law to offer recycling service to every home and business in Delaware. Since fall 2011, recycling bins and a regular recycling collection is provided to all homes, businesses and apartments, though it will be up to you whether or not you choose to use the bins. The goal is to reduce the amount of trash that goes into expensive landfills, thus reducing the cost to the people of Delaware and reducing pollution as well. For now, recycling drop-off centers across the state will remain in place, though as curbside recycling increases, the state’s approximately 15 drop-off sites will be evaluated for participation and removed from service as usage drops.
