Glen Canyon National Recreation Area PO Box 1507, Page, AZ
Lake Powell is the second largest man-made
lake in the U.S. and is the playground for Page,
AZ, and about three million annual visitors who
enjoy the 186-miles of sparkling, clear, blue water
and 1,960-miles of shoreline. Activities include
swimming, fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling,
waterskiing, hiking, and sightseeing. The water temperature
in June rises to 80 degrees and remains into October. Marinas located at Page, Wahweap,
Antelope Point, and Hall’s Crossing serve hundreds of thousands of people. Hundreds of side canyons, inlets, and coves shelter Indian ruins and natural wonders, making Lake Powell a paradise for houseboating, photography, and general exploring. Lake Powell also offers some of the nation’s finest fishing. Houseboats are recommended due to the limited access to developed areas. Canoes and Kayaks provide access to explore the small canyons (see Marinas and Watersports on the next page).
