4 BOARDWALK & BEACHES
Ocean City Boardwalk
Enjoy turn-of-the-century charm with a stroll along the Boardwalk.
Don’t miss a visit to Ocean City’s world-famous Boardwalk. The sights, scents, and sounds along the wooden walkway will delight all ages. USA Today named it one
of the top 10 great Boardwalks in the country. From the tram that chugs along the 2.5-mile promenade to the antique carousel that dates back to early 1900s,
Ocean City has kept a bygone era while creating a fresh attraction.
In the early days the Boardwalk was a main attraction. Hotel owners on the oceanfront originally created a wooden path for their guests’ convenience. At
high tide, the path would be rolled up and stored on hotel porches, and was later built as a permanent structure in 1910. A century ago, the evening ritual
was to stroll the “boards” in your best attire after an elaborate dinner in your hotel. The look today is more casual, but a walk down the boardwalk is still a
“must-do” event.
410-289-5311 or 410-723-1606 One-way fare Visit the many shops, entertainments, and restaurants with ease on the
Boardwalk Tram. The tram stops at any location along the boardwalk to load or unload passengers and charges a one-way fare. Its operating hours are 11 am to midnight daily during the summer and 10 am to midnight on holidays and weekends, and a special schedule during Springfest, Post Labor Day, and Sunfest weekends.
Have fun browsing the Boardwalk shops for that perfect souvenir and bring your appetite along with you. Boardwalk eateries serve a delicious assortment of treats.
Children of all ages enjoy the Boardwalk’s amusements and arcades.
From the antique carousel to a thrilling roller coaster ride, all ages will enjoy the amusements. Get a birds-eye view of the barrier island from atop the Ferris wheel and test your skills at the many games along the southern end of the Boardwalk and pier. A visit to the Ocean City Life Saving Station Museum at the southern end of the Boardwalk is a great way to learn about the history of the town.
