The Mason-Dixon Line, the world-famous boundary between Maryland and Pennsylva- nia, defined the geography of this country’s mid-19th-century political conflict over slavery, culminating in the Civil War. Mason and Dixon undertook their celebrated survey between 1763 and 1768, in order to settle a nearly century-long property dispute between the Penns of Pennsyl- vania and the Calverts of Maryland.
19th-Century Highball Signal
Bi-State Blvd, Delmar
The Signal was used to indicate the condition of the railroad track by raising and lowering a large white ball. Located next to the Delmar Caboose on Railroad and Main Street, Delmar’s Highball Signal is the last one in the country. The original Highball Signals were thirty ft. high and located about three miles apart.

Built in 1771–72, the chapel is known for its un- painted heart-of-pine interior, and the fact that it has never been plumbed, heated, electrified, or painted. The church is one of the few unal- tered churches surviving from Colonial American times. Monthly 1st Sunday Service at the church at 10:00am beginning the 1st Sunday of June until the 1st Sunday of Sept. Tours may be given after Services.

This church was mentioned by Francis Asbury in his 1779 journal. The “new” building was dedicated in 1872.

Seaford Fire Museum

Seaford volunteer fire department purchased two Seagrave fire trucks, these two fire trucks, along with other fire department memorabilia, tells some of the history of the fire department. The museum was established in 2001 to house the original trucks.

office building. It is owned and operated by the Seaford Historical Society. A timeline of Seaford’s unique history of shipbuilding, baseball, nylon, and the poultry industry are showcased. Exhibits updated continuously.

Open: Mon, Wed, and Fri 10am–4pm; Sat 10am–2pm This exhibit features artifacts recovered from
the Nuestra Señora de Atocha (“Our Lady of Ato- cha”), the most famous of a fleet of Spanish ships that sank in 1622 off the Florida Keys. Examine recovered cannons, gold and silver bars, coins, jewelry, weaponry, and religious objects. Small admissions fee.
