Farmville’s Fourth of July Celebration

Enjoy food, carnival rides, music, and more! Bring your chairs and your appetites to this year’s July 4th celebration on the Walter B. Jones Town Common. The American Legion will be on hand to sell hot dogs and Jones Fruit Farm will have homemade ice cream on sale for dessert. The Tar River Band will entertain from the gazebo, the Republican Women of Pitt County will offer flags and patriotic items, and a Woodman of the World representative will hand out patriotic favors to the kids. The festivities begin at 6pm with the band playing until 9pm. And after dark, the fireworks begin!

The 49th Annual Grifton Shad Festival

Oldest festival in Pitt County and the second oldest in eastern North Carolina. For more than 40 years the Grifton Shad Festival has provided family fun in the outdoors for all ages and interests. Most events are free. Fun includes 5K Mud Run, parade, art show, street dance, “Eat Mo Shad“ souvenirs, carnival rides, pageants, Cornhole toss game, car and truck show, and lots more.
