The number of dinosaurs we know about just keeps growing!
More than 50 new types of frill-crested ceratopsians have been discovered since 2000!
And more than 40 new types of the truly gigantic long-legged dinosaurs known as titanosaurs – the biggest dinosaurs ever to live – have been found in the last 10 years, and all of them in South America.
More than 100 new types of dinosaurs have been discovered in China since the early 1990s!

In fact, all together, half of all the different types of dinosaurs we know about were only discovered in the last 10 years . . .

One of the reasons why more dinosaurs are being discovered today is that palaeontologists have better tools, but they are also digging in more places. They have only just started digging beneath the surface of the Earth in countries like Brazil where dinosaurs like BAGUALOSAURUS (2018) have been found.
Even though we have discovered over 1000 different types of dinosaurs over the last 200 years, there are hundreds of thousands of dinosaur fossils still waiting to be discovered under the earth, and the strangest-looking, most interesting dinosaurs are still locked in the ground. Who knows what secrets they will reveal . . . ?
