Page 61 - Everything You Know About Dinosaurs is Wrong

Spend lots of time in preparation labs
When palaeontologists DO spend time digging up fossils, the bones they find are usually attached to a lot of rock. This all needs to be cleaned off carefully with drills, saws and chemicals.
Watch how things rot
It’s important to understand what happened to dinosaurs after they died, but before they became fossils. Some palaeontologists study how animals rot . . . which can be very smelly work.
Do complicated maths
Some palaeontologists use maths to recreate ancient worlds inside their computers to discover what the climate was like, and what it must have been like to walk in prehistoric forests or deserts.
Finally . . .
Sometimes it’s tricky to understand things on your own, so it’s a great idea to chat to your friends about it. Because of this, palaeontologists also spend their
days reading what other scientists have written and talking to other palaeontologists so that they
can answer the hardest
questions together.
Teach
Lots of palaeontologists teach people about the history of life on Earth or how animals’ bodies work, and give talks at museums and schools. They are usually really keen to talk to anyone about their favourite dinosaur!
Write
Palaeontologists also spend a lot of their time writing. They write all
of their discoveries into long articles that get published in special magazines for scientists, called journals.
