Page 65 - Everything You Know About Dinosaurs is Wrong
P. 65
Now we know it all
By the time you have finished reading this book, a lucky palaeontologist may well have discovered a brand-new type of dinosaur. Or they may have stumbled across a new specimen of a type of dinosaur we already know about.
With every new discovery – whether it's a whole skeleton or just a fragment of a single bone – comes new knowledge. Each new fossil, no matter how small or incomplete, can tell us a tiny bit more about whatever sort of animal it was.
These new, small pieces of information slowly help palaeontologists see a more complete picture of what dinosaurs were really like – how they looked after their young, how they moved, what colours they were. But there is still so much we have yet to learn! Palaeontologists continue to search for fossils in new parts of the world, use new technology to study old specimens, and stalk the halls of museums to redescribe skeletons that have been stored away for years.
And with each new discovery we get closer to knowing the TRUTH about what dinosaurs were really like. But remember, facts can be proven wrong! Not so long ago, many peoplethoughtTYRANNOSAURUS couldoutrunyou, thatmostdinosaurswere cold-blooded, and that there was no way some dinosaurs were covered in fluff.
So, one day, maybe, we might find out that some of the things we think about dinosaurs TODAY – even some of the facts in THIS book - might be WRONG too!
