TOM AND IRONSKIN
“Oh, don’t worry!” chuckled Hork. “I’m an expert. I won’t harm the boy.”
Dad sighed and nodded, and Tom unpacked another sword. It felt wrong, too.
“Come on, then!” said Hork.
Tom raised the sword, and immediately,
Hork lunged. Tom dodged, shifting his feet, keeping his balance. Hork gave a huge swing, and Tom caught the blade against his, and they clanged. The swords were well balanced, light and strong. Tom parried, and Hork stumbled backwards. He cursed as his helmet slipped down over one eye. Captain Hork, Tom realised, wasn’t a very good swordsman.
Hork lunged again, and Tom blocked. But
