What will I learn?
This exciting course is designed to develop the skills and techniques required for a career in the theatrical and media make-up and hair industry. It covers professional make-up and hairdressing techniques that are used in fashion, TV, film, theatre and photographic industries.
You will use a wide range of research methods to create design plans which you will use to develop appropriate skills in media make-up for casualty TV (cuts, bruises, scars, and wounds), applying fashion and photographic make-up for commercial and fashion work, along with historical and period make-up, creative hair design and body art.
How will I be assessed?
Assessments take place throughout the year through practical observations, assignments and online exams.
Your practical work will be graded: Pass,
Merit or Distinction. The work is collated in a portfolio of evidence. Your tutors will provide you with feedback to be logged in your learning journal ensuring you are fully prepared for all assessments.
What enrichment can I look forward to?
Activities such as competition work, shows, guest speakers, volunteering, and team- building pursuits are built into your course. In addition you will have access to a varied and full enrichment calendar.
There may be options for you to attend workshops which will also provide you with the opportunity to gain further bolt on qualifications that will give you a head start in successful employment. You will also have the opportunity to participate in an overseas trip which will enhance and enrich your college experience.
What progression is there?
Successful completion of the course could lead to employment or higher education.
