What will I learn?
This course is aimed at students who wish
to progress to university to study Sport, PE Teaching, Sports Therapy or Sports Coaching, or alternatively go in to employment.
The Extended Diploma in Sport Development, Coaching and Fitness is a non-examination course and enables you to confidently build upon your knowledge and progress through the course.
Some of the units studied are:
• anatomy and physiology
• fitness testing
• sports nutrition
• sports coaching
• sports massage
• work experience in sport
How will I be assessed?
Assessment methods are varied to meet the needs of all students and to ensure a wide variety of employability skills are developed.
They include the following:
• reports
• essays
• presentations
• interviews
• practical observations
What enrichment can I look forward to?
Students have experienced an exciting range of activities. Some examples are:
• induction week at Pontins activity centre in North Wales
• wide range of activities on trips week • bowling and JumpNation
• visits to major sporting venues
What progression is there?
The majority of students continue with their education following the completion of the Extended Diploma, and some choose to enter employment.
Previous students have gone on to study the following:

• Sports Nutrition
• PE teaching (primary/secondary) • Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation
