A Family of Artists THE DE MORGAN COLLECTION
The De Morgan Collection
The De Morgan Collection consists of fine and decorative works of art by William and Evelyn De Morgan. The collection was initially formed by Evelyn's sister, Wilhelmina Stirling, who inherited some works but actively sought out and
acquired many more.
After Mrs Stirling's death in 1965, the De Morgan Foundation charitable trust was formed in order to care for the collection. The De Morgan Foundation is a registered independent charity which receives no revenue funding from the Government and relies on the generosity of its friends and supporters to carry out this work. All of the Foundation's income goes towards caring for the collection and making it accessible through exhibitions, loans, tours, research and educational activities.
More information about the De Morgan Collection and how your support can help is available on the website www.demorgan.org.uk
The De Morgan Foundation's partnership with Cannon Hall Museum forms part of
its strategy to provide national access to the De Morgan Collection. 'A Family of Artists' brings together the talents of individuals from the extended family of De Morgans
and Spencer-Stanhopes of Cannon Hall. This exhibition includes work from both
the De Morgan Collection and Cannon Hall Museum's own collections.
