What can you do during your Tenure of Service as a Titleholder to impact your community?
Be a face, be present, be a voice! Investing in our community is something my family and I are very passionate about. So I would continue to invest my time, skills, and knowledge to help make my community a better place than it was. I would also be a positive ambassador for my community and be sure to highlight and share stories about our many hidden treasures, in hopes that other people would grow to love it as much as I do!
What has been your involvement with your platform?
By partnering with Donate Life, I organized the First Transplant Games Volleyball Tournament and Wrapping for a Cause. Through both of these events I was able to share my story of how organ donation has impacted my life. I was also able to donate the monies raised from the tournament to Donate Life. Aside from organizing events, pageantry has provided me the opportunity to spread the importance of organ donation with so many people, encouraging each and every one to Check Yes for Organ Donation!
What inspired you to first become involved in your platform?
Organ donation has impacted my life in so many ways, but seeing my papaw’s journey through the organ donation process was what made me decide to get involved and make a difference. Unless you or one you love has been impacted by organ donation, you truly cannot realize what a gift organ donation is.
If you are selected as the winner, how would you mobilize and market your platform nationally?
Going forward, one of the first things I would do is form a board and strengthen my ties with Donate Life. The first volleyball tournament was a success, but I want to see the event grow and take it to the next level. By bringing people on to help with things such as even planning and marketing, I would be able to work more closely with Donate Life to share my story and help with organ donation sign ups. Long term, I would continue to grow the tournament and link up with Donate Life in other states to grow the transplant games into a national event.
How would you utilize social media in order to positively further your position as a titleholder if you are selected as the winner?
Being crowned Miss Iris Tennessee Teen Volunteer would give me the opportunity to use all social media outlets to reach my peers on a much larger scale and encourage other young girls to be a part of this pageant system. I would be able to share the benefits of this pageant, the opportunities that were presented, and how it has positively impacted my life. I would also use these outlets to inform people about organ donation and continue to encourage everyone to check YES?
