What can you do during your Tenure of Service as a Titleholder to impact your community?
I believe that it is very important to give back to the community. If honored Miss Iris Teen Volunteer, I would use this opportunity to raise awareness of Healthy Heart Awareness to work to improve as many children lives as I can.
What has been your involvement with your platform?
I volunteered at the West Tennessee Go Red for women event and the West Tennessee Heart Walk to help bring awareness to Jackson. I had the opportunity to speak with others about their journey to better heart health and the importance of educating others. If chosen as Miss Iris Tennessee Teen, I would expand my healthy heart platform statewide.
What inspired you to first become involved in your platform?
My father began having mild chest discomfort on exertion. He scheduled an appointment with a cardiologist and was immediately scheduled for a cardiac catheter. His Cath showed a 99% left anterior descending artery block aka the widow maker. They attempted to stent, but due to the anatomy of his heart, the stent failed and there was no option by cardiac bypass. He underwent hours of surgery where they stopped his heart and he was placed on the lung machine. After seeing how this effected my family, I knew I wanted to speak out and educate others on the importance of heart health.
If you are selected as the winner, how would you mobilize and market your platform nationally?
If im selected as winner I would promote Healthy Heart Awareness by making social media campaigns, working with the Heart Association and going to schools and talking about the importance of a Healthy Heart
How would you utilize social media in order to positively further your position as a titleholder if you are selected as the winner?
If selected as winner I would share my personal experience as well as support and engage others willing to share their stories via social mediato gain both engagement and awareness in my platform. I will maintain a positive social media presence and represent my title and my platform through my efforts in a manner that is consistent with being a young role model for other young ladies in both my community and nationally.
