   Why Should I Stay?
There are so many reasons I should stay.
My husband, my daughter, my siblings,
and the innumerable friends I have made along the way. Sister, my Heavenly Father beckoned me to come,
and then I knew, my journey was through.
For I have weathered many seasons with all of you.
My days became weary, my words so few.
I could no longer do the things I used to do.
My pen dried up; my thoughts dwindled too.
My longing to stay became so taxing every day trying to hang on for you.
I know you have asked a thousand questions since that day. But I asked myself on Sunday, “Why should I stay?”
My answer to your questions is—my spirit leaped, when I saw all my loved ones,
and I beheld the beauty of freedom from the pain that I had become accustomed to.
No doubt lingered, so I told my Beloved
my time on this earth was no more. Serenity called my name and opened the door.
It wasn’t easy to leave you.
With my heart cleaved to yours,
I felt a release governed by your heart, a picture, so full of love.
I knew then, I could go. I sighed.
At last, my journey is completed and that is why I could not stay.
My Dearest Friend, we will meet again. Denise Tucker
